Everyone Can Help Through Donations of Gently Used Books
Meetings
The friends always need donations of books for upcoming sale events. Donations may be dropped off at the Library and placed just inside the staff entrance on the Sixth Street side of the building. Staff at the Circulation desk in the main lobby, if requested, will issue receipts.
The Friends are unable to accept:
Readers Digest Condensed Books
Textbooks more than 10 years old
Travel books more than 3 years old
National Geographic Magazines
Moldy or Musty Books
Books that have been Chewed
Books that are Wet

Place your Amazon.com orders through the Library’s website and a percentage of your order goes to our Friends of the Library to help fund programs and services at the Library! It’s easy, but you need to follow these steps:
- 1. Click on the white, black and yellow box with the Amazon link to the left.
- 2. Look at the top of the Amazon.com page. If it says (Not “your name”?) up there, CLICK that! You need to begin your order as an anonymous user. Click the back arrow button until you get all the way back to the Library’s website.
- 3. If it doesn’t have your name there, you are free to begin building your cart and placing your order.
- 4. If you encountered the (Not “your name”?), after you’ve clicked on it and gone back to the Library’s website, click the Amazon.com link to the left AGAIN.
- 5. Look at the top of the Amazon.com page. You should not see your name at the top.
- 6. Begin your search for items to purchase and place them in your shopping cart, shopping as usual.
- 7. At the time you are ready to check out, you will be prompted to log in as a user with your email address and password. Do this and proceed as usual with your payment.
- 8. A portion of your purchase price, up to 15% on some items, will be sent to our Friends of the Library and it costs you nothing extra!
- 9. You will probably have to go through this process every time you shop, clicking the “Not you” at the top of the Amazon.com page and then going back to the Library’s website to start over. It clears out the cookies that identify you as you from the beginning.
- 10. It’s easy and is a great way to earn funds for our Friends of the Library to use to provide programs, services and amenities for our Library! THANK YOU!

The Friends help make the Library a Friendly Destination in Zionsville.

Membership
Annual dues for an individual are $10 per year. New members are welcome. Print the membership application(PDF), complete and return it to the library.

Fundraising for the Library
Since the mid-seventies the Library Friends have been earning money selling pre-owned books and donating the proceeds to the Library. The Library Friends solicit, collect, organize, and price thousands of books for public sales three times a year. The net proceeds are set aside to benefit the Library.
Significant contributions to the present building
After several years of saving book sale proceeds, the Friends in 1993 donated $7000 to purchase the chandelier that hangs in the main lobby. The beautiful light fixtures in the main lobby and on the second floor were made possible by the generosity of the Friends. In addition, a display cabinet was purchased that shows off the Lora Hussey doll collection.

More than 25 years of gifts
- Since 1978, the Library Friends have donated about $120,000 to purchase basics and extras that have served to collectively make this Library a special destination for all ages.
- Equipment such as photocopiers, dehumidifier, calculator, electric typewriter, telephone, refrigerator, faxes, tape players, and a scanner were items that contributed to Library staff productivity.
- Basic furniture needs such as tables, chairs, shelving, card catalog cabinets, display units, and area rugs were also supplied.
- Books, magazine subscriptions, and other collection materials have been added annually. The flowers at the Library entrances have been purchased and planted by the Friends.
- Many of the Christmas decorations that adorn the Library were gifts from our generous Friends. The group pays for Library program speakers and concerts, supplies and refreshments.
- Many greater Zionsville area residents, past and present, have benefited from the diligence and funds donated by this caring group.
